I love any holiday festivities and Easter is no different.
The churches are wonderful here and are as common as Walgreens. Many of them are having or supporting these activities. This particular community, Cinco Ranch, along with Trinity Baptist Church put on a great event filled with a Easter Bunny, egg hunt, pony ride, petting zoo, bounce house, cotton candy and clowns making balloon animals...And all for FREE! Madison loved all the fun stuff except the pony ride that did not go over well.
She did not even make it on the pony.
The egg hunt was crazy. I mean what adult feels okay stealing children's eggs...Apparently this dad was competitive and wanted his child to have 20 eggs {limit was clearly stated MULTIPLE times of 8}. When my little lady, who appropriately stood in the correct line with her Daddy, went to pick up eggs there were two left, and only because I was practically sitting on it. Madison knew no different but I did and was upset about this gentlemen. I would not let the incident ruin my day but I vented to Ben multiple times.
We also got some great family pictures. The day was a little cloudy unfortunately but the pictures still look great. I love these pictures with both of my babies. I can't believe this is our life right now. AMAZING! Thank you Lord. You deserve much praise and thanksgiving for blessing us abundantly.
The art of Carson's fall. Poor man was still a bit unsteady at this point {he is much better now} and fell over frequently. Live and learn in our house ;)
I know.....He didn't even cry. He thought maybe he could start eating the grass as a consollation.

6 months
6 months
You have been with us a half of a year already and I feel like I am not sure where 5 of those months went. Your growing personality, your addicting smile and your loving hugs are just a few reasons every morning I fall more in love with you.
Madison and I both smile at each other when we hear you start stirring. Madison will turn to me, so excited, "Carson up?" We race into your room because we can't wait to start our day with your sweet self. Most of the time you are just hanging out, playing with your toes and rolling around. When you see us that smile lights up the room. What a blessing you are to our family sweet boy.
Your loves have not changed. Sucking your thumb (#1), playing with your toes (#2) and watching your crazy sister (#3) are your remain your favorites. We started you on more baby food and to no surprise the fruits have been going much better than the veggies, although green beans actually didn't go to bad. Guess we will see how this dinner goes tonight.
You really don't have many dislikes. Your easy going personality keeps the day easy.
You are sitting by yourself and are starting to fall over less and less. Just this morning you sat and played for almost 30 minutes. Madison finds you tipping over just hilarious and will try to do it too. By that time you are both laying on the ground giggling at each other.
Your favorite songs remain twinkle, twinkle and open, shut them. Each week when we go to Mother Goose time at the library you get all bouncy and excited when we do the sing alongs. I smile every time you do it. I just love you to pieces.
Little man, you are intermittently sleeping through the night and hopefully will be consistently be doing that soon.
I love you sweet boy and can't wait to see this months progress.

tot school {purple}
Successes:
1. Purple was not a successful week
2. Playing outside in the water was much more successful
3. Wearing purple for the entire week was not difficult
Mess Free Paint
Water, food coloring and a ziploc bag is all you need for this fun, easy activity. Madison did enjoy it. I actually stepped out of the box and added a little cornstarch thinking, thickening the fluid up would be helpful and another added texture. Instead the starch settled but it turned out to be more fun because then when Madison ran her fingers over the bag the mix of dark purple water and white corn starch mixed, creating a light purple. I thought it was pretty cool. Madison immediately became distracted by the large, colorful puff balls instead and instantly began organizing.
Chick Kit
Apparently I need to go back to preschool because this activity was difficult for even myself. My big fingers {that aren't even that big} could not keep glued items on the puff balls. Did I mention the box reads for 8+. Little over our heads. Instead we did whatever we thought easiest. For Madison, that was sticking a foot where a typical beak might be.
Finger paint that isn't finger paint at all
For the person out there that said this recipe would be a WINNER for finger paint....You were either miss informed or have never played with finger paint. Our fix, add some shaving cream.
Painting
When all else fails, bust out the paint....
Coloring
....Or the coloring bin
Cooking
Madison seems to eat a little better when she is apart of the cooking process {not always}. Here is a little bit of this and a little of that.

forgotten footage
I completely forgot to post some fun pictures from our aquarium. In Galveston they have an area called Moody Gardens, actually this big resort of a place. They have mulitple buildings one of which was the aquarium. Being our little Madison loves the water this was the perfect spot to enjoy some fun animal watching.

soft sand
Vacation: Taking a pleasure trip
That is exactly what we did.
Having the beach close has been amazing {ie the amount of posts related to the beach}. We have been taking full advantage. Our recent trip was to Surfside Beach. What a great surprise. The sand was softer, the beach a bit more inviting and the water bluer! Jackpot!!!
Madison LOVES the ocean. I mean to the point that one of her first questions in the morning is "Ocean?" She meets new friends and just runs full bore to the water. My little water worm is going to have no problem spending weekends at the beach this summer.
Taking a little siesta
Ben always says, "I feel like I am on vacation." I DO TOO! The whole swimming in the ocean, warm sun and the salty air always is reminiscent of the vacations we have had. We go to the ocean to vacation and now, we can go anytime we want. This may take a few months to get used to!
The water is still chilly especially on an unsuspecting little man
Okay, I have recovered!

Mommy is dancing.
Madison is trying to eat.
"Mommy, stop it. Mommy, stop it. MOMMY STOP IT"
Mommy continues to dance. Carson is laughing in the seat next to me.
"Mommy, go to room." {I swear I have NEVER said that! Really though}
Mommy walks away, sad lip, pouting.
"Mommy, its okay, don't cry. Hug."
{Your first thought was, she doesn't say mommy that much. Yes, for all you parents out there who know, Madison really did say Mommy that many times.}

lights and falls
Madison has really taken a liking to climbing recently, I mean really climbing. She climbs on the chairs, sofas, shelves, kitchen cabinets, basically anything with a possibility to increase her height to an unsafe level.
This night was no different
The light switch is a tempting object. Instead of asking one of us for help she decided to climb on the couch in our master bedroom, stand on the back of the couch and reach as far as possible to turn it on.
If I told you this was the first time I would be lying.
If I told you this was the first time she has taken a fall I would be lying.
She fell and started crying. Ben had seen the fall from a distance, in action, but of course was too far to really do anything but watch the tumble. I was de clothing Carson getting ready for the bath time we had just rushed {Madison loves bath time} to the bedroom for.
This time the fall was different and I knew it almost immediately. She stopped crying quickly, within a minute and just put her head on my shoulder. I tried sitting her on the bed, she was pale, not moving anything, not even sitting up, just acting like a loose noodle zombie child. I picked her back up and walked into the living room. I sat her on the couch this time and the same thing. She was out of it.
I told Ben at this point to get Carson ready because we need to go to the ER.
I could see the panic on Ben's face and I felt the panic internally but I just wanted to focus on what needed to be done, looking at only what the next step may be.
We have a Texas Children's Hospital very close by {AWESOME}. We rushed in and of course, hurry up to wait. Typical hospital. As we were sitting in the waiting room Madison started vomiting. At this point I was grateful to be in the hospital but fearful of what this could mean.
I prayed. I prayed again. I prayed some more.
Madison still remained a little zombie and only wanted to be held. She refused to be in a sitting position, her only comfort was being nestled into one of our arms.
The vomiting continued.
We finally saw the doctor and she did a thorough exam. She said we would try a medication to help with the nausea and then offer apple juice. If the vomiting continues she will need a CT Scan of her head.
The Lord answered my pleading prayers.
Madison started drinking the apple juice and did not want to stop. She started to act normal, asking to "Watch a Movie." There was my sign. Her request from the start of the day to the end of day. Oh Boo Bear, of course you can watch a movie. I even felt a lump in my throat start to form. She was finally coming around.
These moments in parenting are the scariest moments. I was sick the entire time waiting for what they were going to say and if she was going to start to turn around. I found comfort in my nursing knowledge and also found great fear in that understanding. I can just be grateful my little Madison is back to her crazy, busy self.
