refreshing weekend away

First Time!  This was our first weekend away since we had the kids.  That is three years too many because the rejuvenation, relaxation and reconnection was amazing!  I had no idea!  We have now made this a tradition, thanks to a Christmas gift my parents presented us, a nights stay at the Spearfish Canyon Lodge {where we stayed the first two nights of our honeymoon}.

This area captures Ben and I completely.  From the flowing rivers, beautiful rocky scenery and the breath taking hikes, we did not stop from sun up to sun down. 

We started at Devils Bathtub Trail.  The trail is what you see below, crossing the river back and forth.  Midway there are "tubs" or pools of water where you can see the depth due to the pure clarity of the water.  We enjoyed jumping in :)

Ben fished his way up while I relaxed and soaked in the sun.

 

 

I even caught a  few fish myself...Never bigger than the one you see me holding :)

We enjoyed SO MANY amazing hikes.  Both of us were exhausted by the time we sat down.  It could not have been more perfect!  Until next year!
