living the life

Estes Park is one of our favorite spots in Colorado.  The rivers run thru the back yards of many resorts and the Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the largest, most beautiful areas.  Hiking, biking, fishing are just a few of the amazing activities we have enjoyed.

This will be Madison's second trip (what a lucky little girl!).  The older she gets the more she wants to explore...which can make it a bit difficult at times.  Lessons we learned:

1. A child will throw a fit ten times worse when he/she is tired even if that means smashing their head on the asphalt.

2. Exploring means placing every possible item in the mouth.

3. Even on vacations children love to wake up early, and maybe even earlier because they can see mommy and daddy sleeping in the bed next to them.

4. Hiking (aka sitting in a backpack) for 6.5 miles wears a girl out and also causes leg numbness.  Symptoms include inability to walk for up to 5 minutes and in essence appearing to be a drunk.

We had a great time, lots of wonderful memories and beautiful pictures.

Enjoying the geese

This picture of the steep hill at the end of the hike does not do it justice.  I mean I sat on my butt and slid so fast down I was SCARED.  Reaching the top was so rewarding though!

P.S. Dad no lecture needed....Yes the conditions were snowy, we knew it was a possibility but we were in denial.  We later realized that capris and shorts in large amounts of snow never works, even when you really believe it will be fine.  That is the reason I now have scrapes up and down both shins.  Again, I repeat, no lecture needed ;)

Beautiful and looked like fun even with the snow. Maybe a little bit different clothing would have been a plus. No lecture will be given :-)
