tot school {orange}

Tot school as been going great!  At times I feel like I am banging my head against the wall.  I will say this bowl is orange 20 times and then ask Madison what color the bowl is and "Blue" is the response.  Was I just really talking for 2 straight minutes about orange, never mentioning blue, and your response is BLUE?!  Yes, slightly annoying and frustrating but as my wonderful neighbor said "The responses may not be appropriate now but someday you will think, can you please stop telling me what the color of every object is!"  I agree.  The process of learning is not instantaneous and just exposing Madison {and by default Carson} to letters, numbers and colors may one day help her learn and grow into the smart little cookie I know she already is!

We had many activities, not all focusing on orange, but learning none the less.

Stickers

My sister bought Madison a reusable sticker book from Melissa and Doug...GENIUS!  Madison loves decorating all the different rooms of the book, adding "puppies" and "kitties" to every page.

Sensory Bin

The sensory bins are favorites of Madison.  The bean bin even ended up all over our closet floor she was so excited about it {yes, really this happened and we are still stepping on beans}

Paint

We used the toilet paper roll again {I find these easier for her to use than the small paint brushes.  She seems to get a little frustrated with them and gives up much sooner}.  I also found some foam stamps on super clearance {90% off in the dollar bin..yup they were 10 cents!}.  She really enjoyed those.  We went over the shapes as she went along and actually she now knows heart, star and circle.  Progress!!!

Watercolors

On these Melissa and Doug sheets, the watercolor bar on top is included on every page!  Awesome!

Letters

We practiced tracing the letters in these books.  Lets just use the word "tracing" lightly.  {Focusing on what she is doing which is verbalizing what she is coloring is still a success in my book.  Even if NO tracing was involved}.

More "Tracing"

Decorating

I also found this in that super clearance bin...10 cents PEOPLE!!!  Madison had alot of fun and I am almost positive she is the smartest girl.  I mean, it looks JUST like the picture!

Cutting and Gluing

No the cutting doesn't really happen.  I do have some tot scissors but we are not close to using those.  I leave them out so she can experiment with them a little but not much is actually done with them.  Instead I cut out all sorts of shapes and she glues them on to the ORANGE paper.

Carson's Activities

Yes, I did do that orange shirt on purpose ;)

Teaching to share...It is really a hit or miss most days

We played with all the orange toys we had in the house...The dinosaurs were Carson's favorite
