angry bird crew

Typically I begin asking Ben about Halloween costumes at the beginning of October.  Every year it is the same response, "That is forever away, I don't know."  Then October 24th roles around and he looks at me frantically like, "We really need to come up with something for Halloween."  If he listened to his wife we would not have to rush around to find costumes but instead, we are crazy people at the end of the month.  The costumes always come out great in the end but, REALLY, must we wait to the very last minute!

One week before Halloween we spent all Sunday cutting, trimming and sewing the costumes. Angry Birds it was (The birds are from a IPad game that is super popular right now).

I must also add that for all 4 costumes it cost $50.  We then sold the costumes the Sunday right before Halloween for $20.  Total cost $30.  If we would have bought them at a department store, each costume was $50.  That would have been a total of $200.  Thanks to Ben we saved $170!!!  How crazy is that!  AMEN  to Home Ec!!!

Ben blew up a template at work.  Keila and I cut the paper template then cut the fabric out.

Madison enjoyed exploring it all

The house ended up a disaster with fabric and paper EVERYWHERE!

I caught you crawling queen.  This was the day she decided she was going on the move.  She knew how to crawl before this but wasn't really sure of it.  Can you see the evil smirk?  She knew what she was doing :)

"Mom, these birds are HUGE!"

We had so many comments on the costumes when we had our Halloween Party (pictures to follow).  Everyone could not believe that Ben was the sewer and I was the the "extra help."  Lets be honest, they were all just jealous we looked so good.  Here are a few pictures of the GREAT costumes for 2011.

I borrowed Madison's bow for the evening
